A drop of hope: water for people in need

, ,
Siemens Caring Hands e.V. continued to attach great importance to working with partner organizations in crisis regions to ensure access to clean drinking water and sanitary facilities. Thanks to many generous donations, we are able to rebuild the infrastructure destroyed by environmental and natural disasters and give the people affected a future worth living.

In a time marked by conflict and division, we are united by one important link: Water. It overcomes borders, builds bridges and creates harmony. Water is not just a life-giving resource, but a human right that is fundamental to every aspect of life.
It is already clear today that only through joint and innovative action this resource, which is becoming increasingly scarce in many regions of the world, can be conserved and secured for future generations.

Our commitment to drinking water supply and health protection

Especially after natural disasters, the impact on the supply of clean drinking water is immense and the risk of disease outbreaks increases significantly. Projects to rebuild sanitary facilities, water infrastructure and basic medical care are therefore a top priority for our first response. We are working diligently to prevent further serious consequences of disasters and to strengthen solidarity and resilience in the affected regions.
Following the devastating natural disasters in 2023, we supported various solutions to rebuild and sustainably secure the severely restricted water and healthcare supply, even in areas that are difficult to access.

Thanks to the many donations to Siemens Caring Hands e.V., we were able to implement the following projects to provide access to water and sanitation:

  • Morocco: In cooperation with the Moroccan organization High Atlas Foundation, we are restoring the drinking water supply in four regions of the remote Atlas Mountains by rebuilding the water infrastructure. This will benefit more than 1,380 people whose access to clean drinking water was previously severely restricted by the severe earthquake.

  • Libya: Together with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), we are working to rehabilitating and building shelters with integrated WASH solutions (water, sanitation and hygiene). In this way, we are improving physical protection, living conditions and access to basic services for 90 families affected by the flood disaster.

  • Syria: Our cooperation with Arche Nova e.V. also focuses on the issue of water and the provision of hygiene services. With our approach of providing long-term support to earthquake victims through well construction, food distribution, medical care and educational opportunities, we are improving future prospects and ensuring the basic supply of clean drinking water and food for around 1,907 households.

  • Türkiye: Due to the high and immediate need for clean drinking water following the devastating earthquake in Türkiye, we have committed support a water project with the turkish UNICEF organization. By providing critical support to rebuild schools, we place special emphasis on preserving educational opportunities for young adults and children. Therefore, we are supporting the installation of 27 water tanks in schools, which will give around 18,600 schoolchildren access to clean drinking water. Step by step, this will enable the affected people to take control of their daily lives again.

Looking to the future, we are committed to protecting and preserving water as a valuable resource for peace and sustainability.
The numerous donations you have made so far are an inspiring example of how we can achieve positive things together as a community. We would therefore like to thank you once again for all your donations, without which the implementation of all these projects would not have been possible!
