A Window of Hope for Ukraine

At the 2026 Siemens Summer Festival in Munich, Siemens Caring Hands e.V. presented a special aid project in collaboration with its partner, LIBERECO – Partnership for Human Rights. The project offered children and families the opportunity to participate actively.
Windows destroyed by the war
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, thousands of windows in homes, schools and hospitals have been destroyed. Gaping holes remain, some of which are hastily covered with plastic tarpaulins that offer no protection against the wind, rain or freezing Ukrainian winter. With every broken window, not only is heat lost, but also a sense of security and normality.
This is precisely where the project, made possible by Siemens Caring Hands e.V. in collaboration with its partner LIBERECO and the implementation partners RE WIN and AoS, comes in.
The project: Used Windows, New Hope
High-quality used windows from Switzerland are dismantled, transported and installed in homes damaged by war in collaboration with local residents. The process involves replacing the windows and carrying out repairs to damaged building facades.
The project focuses on particularly vulnerable people, such as the elderly, families with children, and those who lack the necessary resources to undertake reconstruction independently. Public buildings, where life continues despite the war, have also already received help:
- Schools, where children learn;
- Hospitals, where people are treated and
- Community centres, where neighbourhoods come together to find new strength
A closed window keeps out rain, snow and frost. But beyond that, it also restores a sense of security. Of home. Of hope.

Summer Festival: Join in and send a message!
At this year’s Siemens Summer Festival in Munich, visitors had the chance to experience the project firsthand and get involved. At the Siemens Caring Hands stand, children and families could paint window decorations. Colourful designs, personal messages and small works of art full of optimism were created as symbols of solidarity and hope.
This initiative has demonstrated the essence of Siemens Caring Hands e.V.: a commitment that makes a direct impact and a community that extends beyond the daily work routine.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this project, whether through dividend donations as part of the Cents4Sense campaign or by sharing photos at the summer festival. Every donation and photo conveys a personal message: We’re thinking of you, and you’re not alone.
Ukraine continues to need our support. The war is still raging, and the road to reconstruction will be a long one, but it begins with every window that is replaced, every wall that is rebuilt, and every message of hope that is delivered.
Siemens Caring Hands e.V. would like to thank its project partners, LIBERECO, RE WIN and AoS, for their tireless work on the ground.
