Overview of the situation:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\n

In October 2024, above-average rainfall led to devastating floods in Spain. Several hundred people died in the affected areas and many more lost their homes, cars or all their possessions in the floods.<\/p>\n

In addition to providing immediate relief such as food and hygiene products, Siemens Caring Hands e.V. is supporting local partner organisations with medium- and long-term projects such as reconstruction.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

We aim to help those who are most affected.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emergency Aid<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

In cooperation with Caritas Spain’s emergency response teams, relief items such as hygiene kits, water, food and blankets were distributed. Clean-up operations were also launched in the affected communities. Water has been drained, road blockages have been cleared and work has begun to remove mud and clean houses.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Together with our local partner, the Spanish Red Cross, we were able to set up temporary shelters and send teams to provide medical and psychological support. We have also helped to rebuild infrastructure and restore water and medical supplies. Reconstruction is also being supported through this partnership.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition, leisure activities such as music, cinema and events are promoted.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In collaboration with our partner organisation, Save the Children, we supported projects aimed at helping affected families. This included providing financial aid and learning materials, creating child-friendly spaces, and organising summer camps to provide psychosocial support for young people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the support of Siemens Caring Hands, the Fundaci\u00f3n Comunidad Valenciana Victoria Laporta Carbonell aims to promote cultural, environmental, educational, research and training activities related to nature conservation. This includes the conservation and improvement of the natural environment of the ‘Buixcarr\u00f3’ estate, which is located in the municipality of Banyeres de Mariola in the provinces of Valencia and Alicante.<\/strong><\/p>\n
